Self-Portrait, oil on cardboard , 1976
"Creating visual or verbal images is as natural to me as breathing. I never ask myself why I create the way I do, for what purpose, or what is the source of my inspiration. My fantasies emanate from the world of imagination, which appears to me like a cozy, spiritual harbor, which I possess for my enjoyment and in which I feel free to do what I please."
"I started creating art in early childhood. Drawing pictures was a joyful part of children's games. In my teenage years I became adventurous, eager to explore the history of art."
"I never cared about developing my own style. It seemed to me that having an easily identifiable personal style is simply boring. I believe that the most important part in making art is the act and the moment of creating it. It never repeats itself, it is always new and fresh. That is probably the reason I don't like talking about my finished pictures. When the artwork is completed, it does not interest me any more. I constantly look forward to something new."
